About the charity
TPP’s client support vision impaired Children and Young People to develop their independent skills and gain a quality education whilst having fun! The charity has been supporting Blind Children and Young People for over 100 years and truly believe in helping young people live beyond sight loss. They do this through an expert blend of education, sport, creative and developmental services. Their continued success is a direct result of their true values which underpin all of the work they do, embedded in trust and excellence.
They are now seeking a new energetic, motivated and ambitious Head of Care to be responsible for 2 of their homes for their residential college.
About the role
There are 2 homes with 8 students in each, the students live in the residential homes Monday through to Sunday term time and are aged 16-25 years old. All the young people are Blind and most have an additional disability. As the Head of Care you will be directly responsible for the overall management and quality of service for each home. You will have team leaders who support with staff supervisions and the day to day running of the homes. Each home has a unique energy filled with fun, laughter and there is a true sense of achievement from all the students. You will be welcomed with open arms by the staff team who are friendly and work very well together. Your working hours will be split 60% office management and 40% on rota directly supervising the staff and engaging with the young people.
As the Head of Care you will be working collaboratively with the Education and therapy teams to identify the progress of the young people and any additional support they need. There is no budget responsibility for this role, but you will need to ensure that shopping etc. is kept within the designated amount.

What do I need to have to apply?
To be considered for this opportunity you will need to be tenacious, have drive and energy and be imaginative. Your experience will need to reflect the responsibilities of the role; a background in working and managing a children and young people’s disability service is ideal but if you have experience of being a registered manager for an adult provision then you will be considered. You will need to have been a CQC registered manager and have a strong demonstrable experience of implementing CQC standards and quality assurance is essential. You will also need to have significant experience of managing, supervising and leading teams. You will need to hold an NVQ Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care or equivalent.
