Into Film's mission is to put film at the heart of children and young people's learning and cultural experience. Supported by the BFI, together with funding from the film industry and a number of other sources, we will deliver an ambitious new programme that seeks to make a step change in film learning for 5-19 year olds across the UK, encouraging and enabling watching, making and critical understanding of film in one accessible offer.
Into Film incorporates the legacy of two leading film education charities, First Light and FILMCLUB, and will be working together with a range of partners in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
As an Education Programme Manager you will co-manage a team, which includes Programme Coordinators (PCs); a remote Project Manager; two full time Education Team Assistants; the Film on the Road team(2 staff), as well as liaising with the Senior Programme Support Assistant and remote
Programme Managers stationed in regions across the UK. You will also assist the Director of Education with strategy and planning for the Education Team.
The following skills and experience are essential to the post and are listed in order of importance:
*Experience and understanding of the UK education system, particularly English educational priorities and prevailing policy.
*Experience of strategic development and leadership.
*Experience of project/programme management (including potentially budget) and of building and managing and motivating a team of people.
*Experience of partnership building with a variety of relevant organisations
*Skills and knowledge to feed into the CPD and resources team at IF.
*Knowledge and understanding of local and national organisations and frameworks that Into Film engages with.
*Knowledge and understanding of non-school settings and the youth sector.
*The ability to write reports and present data with precision, accuracy and lucidity.
*The ability to communicate with teachers, club members, partners, stakeholders and colleagues.
*Excellent organisational capabilities, multi-tasking a number of projects simultaneously and troubleshooting calmly and concisely.
*Knowledge of filmmaking and animation in formal and informal settings (direct experience would be desirable but is not essential).
*Experience of the Office suite (preferably for Mac), as well as Keynote and databases.
*Passion for and knowledge about film.
*Advantageous to the position is a teacher qualification coupled with experience beyond teaching
*Into Film is a Mac environment, therefore familiarity with the Microsoft Office for Mac suite would be advantageous although training will be available.
