Shakespeare Schools Festival (SSF) uses the unique power of Shakespeare to transform lives.
SSF’s annual festival uses a rigorous and supportive process to train teachers and young people in an active and ambitious way of working with Shakespeare. Months of preparation culminate in exhilarating performance evenings; young people playing Shakespeare in professional theatres hundreds of nights across the country, every autumn.
About the role
This is an exciting new position for an ambitious individual, keen to make their mark on an organisation and to be an architect of its development. For the first time, the SSF is bringing together its fundraising, sales and marcomms functions, and is looking for an innovative, enthusiastic person to lead and develop the team.
Reporting to the CEO and working to a newly developed 5-year strategy, you will lead and give strategic direction to the Fundraising and Communications teams, taking ultimate responsibility for:
- Driving income generation for SSF
- Generating and managing stakeholder relationships
- Leading on the integration of marcomms, sales and fundraising teams
- Sourcing and accessing new networks
- Building the organisation’s profile
As a member of the senior management team, you will help guide SSF’s strategic and organisational development
You will have an excellent track record in generating significant levels of income across a range of income streams, with outstanding knowledge of a diverse range of fundraising techniques. You will also have an ability to create, deliver and report back on complex funding packages. You will possess first rate people skills with experience of inspiring and motivating both new and existing donors, as well as excellent team leadership. You will have a keen interest in performing arts and/or education and the development of young people. It is not essential for you to have previously worked at the Director level – whilst desirable, this could be a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious candidate looking to make their mark in a rapidly evolving organisation.
