Every 10 seconds someone in the UK has a potentially life-threatening asthma attack and three people die every day. Tragically two thirds of these deaths could be prevented, whilst others still suffer with asthma so severe current treatments don't work.
Asthma UK works to stop asthma attacks and, ultimately, cure asthma by funding world leading research and scientists, campaigning for better care and supporting people with asthma to reduce their risk of a potentially fatal asthma attack. Asthma affects huge numbers of people in the world and we are a charity hungry to harness the tremendous amount of global innovation out there for the 5.4 million people with asthma in the UK.
This is a unique opportunity to join us at an exciting point in our evolution. As Director of Advice and Support, you'll be a key part of a new leadership team driven by the challenge to realise the huge potential for Asthma UK and relish developing an organisation small and nimble enough take advantage of opportunities quickly.
You will lead the development and delivery of Asthma UK's gold-standard asthma health advice and support services. Currently delivered through digital channels, helpline and third-party partnerships, there is appetite to actively seek new models to support behaviour change and self management.
You will bring comprehensive knowledge and understanding of how to best support health and behaviour change campaigns. Excited by the opportunity to develop and refine a health advice strategy making best use of mass communication and digital channels, you will have well-developed networking and relationship-building skills. A gifted people manager, you will support your team to achieve great things for people with asthma, whilst also working with fundraising colleagues to significantly grow income.
