Construction Academy Strategy and Commercial Manager- £60k- £70k- 12month Maternity Contract
A specialist Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy based in Ilford are currently recruiting for a Strategy and Commercial Manager to start in March 2015 at the latest to lead the organisation to create, sustain and ultimately transition the world class academy to a new operator/operating model.
The Strategy and Commercial Manager will also drive continuous, cost effective, improvements through leading and directing the team to achieve its business objectives and fulfilling its investment commitments and play a full part in the development of options for the future leadership and operation of the facility/brand and business proposition.
Established in 2011 to address the shortage of people with the necessary skills to work on underground transport schemes and other planned infrastructure projects you will continue to work closely with industry partners, professional bodies and other organisations that carry out tunnelling and underground construction work, to ensure that the facilities and curriculum meet current and future industry needs.
The essential criteria for the Strategy and Commercial Manager include:
Effective at leading change and managing complexity
Ability to lead a team during a period of change and uncertainty
Experience and strong track record of directing the development and delivery of adult vocational skills and qualification programmes, preferably in construction, engineering or related industrial sector through a third party organisation
Evidence of leading service improvements and raising standards in the provision and adult vocational training
Ability to manage contractual and commercial relationships
Experience in securing and delivering publicly funded skills programmes - a great track record of delivering against grant funding outcomes
Experience of working with multiple partnerships across both industrial and skills sectors
Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
Task focussed with good attention to detail
Experience of managing teams and commercial arrangements with external providers
Ability to meet demanding objectives including quality and learner targets
