Founded in 1984, the Bromley by Bow Centre is a pioneering charity that has gained a national and international reputation for its innovative regeneration work in East London. The charity supports over 2,000 people each month to improve their health, manage their family’s finances, learn new skills and move into work or volunteering or set up their own business. The focus is on the community’s most vulnerable – people who are isolated, facing physical or mental ill-health, or lacking the confidence, skills or qualifications to move on in life.
Currently the Centre sits alongside some of the most far-reaching urban renewal projects in the world – the legacy development of the Olympic Park, the new Stratford City opportunities, the regeneration of the Lower Lea Valley, the expansion of Canary Wharf and the Thames Gateway developments. The experience and reputation of the charity puts it in a unique position to engage with these and other opportunities for the benefit of local people and projects.
The Bromley by Bow Centre has been classified as an “Outstanding” employer in The Sunday Times Top 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For in 2015. It has incubated 62 new social enterprises in the last 10 years and welcomes over a 1000 visitors every year through its consultancy and knowledge share programme. And much more.
The charity is focused on ambitious growth and is recruiting a Chief Operating Officer.
This is a new role and represents a rare opportunity to lead and drive forward one of the UK’s leading community regeneration organisations. It is the second most senior role within the charity and will provide overall leadership to the service delivery and operational functions. It will require someone with exceptional systems and financial experience, as well as a natural alignment with the purposes of the Bromley by Bow Centre. It will need a strong entrepreneurial and empowering mindset and an ability to inspire and lead by example. We believe we can match an exceptional person with an exceptional role.
