International Alert is a global peacebuilding organisation with a 30-year track record of helping people find peaceful solutions to conflict. We work with local communities, governments and businesses in over 40 countries around the world to help them build peace through tackling key
issues as diverse as economic development, climate change and gender.
Our organisational mission is to:
Work with people in conflict-affected and -threatened areas to make a positive difference for peace;
Improve the substance and implementation of international policies relevant to peacebuilding; and
Strengthen the peacebuilding sector.
International Alert has a Board of Trustees comprised of highly skilled individuals from a range of disciplines and from across the world.
At a time when the need for our work could not be clearer or more urgent, we are seeking applications for a Board Chair and Trustee to replace existing members who reach the end of their term of office in May 2016. We are looking for candidates from around the world who share the
mission of International Alert and have experience to help guide us through the next dynamic phase of our development.
International Alert’s work and influence is based on identifying the most pressing opportunities and challenges, and we have recently agreed an ambitious strategy for 2015–19. This is an exciting time to join this professional and innovative organisation and help guide it to even greater success.
CHAIR OF THE BOARD
You will have a senior-level foreign policy or peacebuilding background, as well as prior experience as a Chair or Trustee, excellent leadership skills, and strategic, forward- looking vision.
We seek to maintain a diverse Board whose Trustees have a range of skills and experience. For the current vacancy we are particularly looking for a Trustee with senior-level experience in this field (for example foreign policy or peacebuilding), combined with strategic vision, and an ability
to work effectively as a member of a team.
Both roles require being fully committed to International Alert’s mission and willing to devote the necessary time and effort to help us achieve this. Trustee positions are non-executive and
remunerated on an expenses only basis.
Full information about these roles and application details are on their website: www.internationalalert.org/board-vacancies.
