TPP's client a leading Age charity are seeking an advice worker to join their talented team in West London.
The charity is a unique and growing charity which focuses on three vital areas for older people: Advice, Befriending and Campaigning. We have around 90 staff and 1,500 volunteers across the UK.
They provide information, advice and support for thousands of older people, their carers and families. They offer a national telephone and email advice service on social care, benefits and befriending, supported by a wide range of information guides and factsheets on our website. They also produce a popular range of free 'Wise Guide' information books for older people.
The advice and information services are supported by befriending and practical support from volunteers across the UK and Ireland. Befriending is available one-to-one either at home or by telephone, and also through their popular telephone book and discussion groups.
They use the knowledge they gain from their advice and befriending services to campaign for improvements in policies that affect older people's lives.
The postholder will be part of a team providing office-based advice and information service, about care and support issues. The role is to provide high quality, accurate advice and information via telephone and email to older people, their families, friends, carers and involved professionals; to arrange appointments for enquirers to speak to second tier advice workers as required; helping to resolve issues and improve the situation for the older person or older people at the centre of the enquiry.
To be considered for this post you will need to have experience of, or knowledge of, working with older peoples issue; knowledge and experience of the social care, welfare benefits and housing options for older people. You will also need to have the ability to provide advice and information to enquiries though a variety of media and to handle a range of challenging situations.
