An amazing opportunity has arisen for a Student Welfare Officer to join an active student services team in Birmingham. Here you will engage with numerous departments; working collaboratively to provide the best possible outcomes for the students. As a student welfare officer, you will work with a caseload of students providing support, advice and guidance to students on welfare related issues.

No one day is the same but here are a few things you might get up to:
*Provide guidance, information and advice relating to student welfare and pastoral care and manage a caseload of student welfare matters
*Offer support to students who are experiencing emotional or practical difficulties that will affect their learning
*Offer an emergency service for students in immediate distress
*Advise students with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and mental health illnesses
*Act as an advocate for students when necessary

In order to make a success of this role, you will have:
*Experience working within student welfare in a higher education environment
*Advocated or mediated for students or young people previously
*An understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment
*Working knowledge of means-tested and other benefits, particularly in relation to students in FE/ HE (student loans, grants, charitable awards) and an ability to advise on and implement reasonable adjustments
