As a charity that receives no government funding, the RNLI relies on passionate and dedicated volunteers fulfilling many different types of volunteering opportunities in line with the RNLI’s changing needs.
The Volunteering Development Team is a small and busy team who take responsibility for all things volunteer related, including the recruitment of volunteers across the RNLI.
The team is currently looking for volunteers who can support us at the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate. We will be setting up a Volunteering Stand alongside other RNLI teams showcasing to the public all of the different ways in which we try to reduce drowning across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
In recent years, we attracted a lot of interest from those attending asking how they could support our lifesaving charity in a volunteering capacity. We will be equipping our volunteers with the knowledge to be able to chat to people explaining the many different ways they can get involved and ensuring they are aware of our current opportunities and how people can apply for those roles should they wish to.
It is great fun and an opportunity to learn lots about our lifesaving charity and to soak up the atmosphere of the Great Yorkshire Show. We are looking for people who are confident, friendly and approachable, have good interpersonal skills and it would be helpful, although not essential, if you have an understanding of volunteering and knowledge of the local area.
You will be a vital member of the Volunteering Team, helping them promote volunteering for the RNLI for just half a day or more, of the three days of the Great Yorkshire Show (12–14 July 2016) in Harrogate.
This is a wonderful opportunity that will enable you to gain valuable experience, meet new people and contribute to saving lives at sea.
