The RNLI visitor area at the new Scarborough Lifeboat Station is an opportunity to help save lives at sea by promoting the work of the RNLI within the community and tourist population, to help raise awareness of water safety messages and generate life-saving funds.

The visitor area of the lifeboat station will provide a unique and free opportunity for individuals and groups to experience the RNLI’s work, learn about how to stay safe and support the charity through purchasing quality gifts in the RNLI shop.  The station will be open daily for visitors and bookings will be made for bespoke visits.  We also have an outreach community education team who are able to visit schools or youth groups on request to deliver life-saving education messages linked to the national curriculum.  We offer fun interactive sessions both at the lifeboat station and out in the community, delivered by experienced volunteer presenters.

We are looking for an individual to co-ordinate and manage external meetings, open days and other events which will be held at the lifeboat station.  In this role, you will also be interacting with visitors and therefore excellent communication skills will be important ensuring that all visitors receive an excellent level of customer service and an enriching experience during their visit.

For many people, visiting the lifeboat station will be the first time that they come into contact with the RNLI, and as the Visitor Area Manager you could be the first person that engages and inspires them to support us now, and in the future.  Your welcoming, organised and efficient nature will ensure that the visitor area is a friendly and attractive place to visit, fully representing the RNLI values. Assisting other team members with the upkeep and cleanliness of the visitor area will ensure that standards are maintained in the longer term.

Could you donate your time to the RNLI to co-ordinate meetings and events which take place at the station?  Experience in this area is not essential but the ability to get on with people from many walks of life alongside excellent communication and team working skills will be integral to the person carrying out this role being successful.  Training and support for this role will be provided.
