Royal Trinity Hospice provides services for people who are living with long term and life-limiting conditions, including their families and carers. We offer care, support and advice to help improve wellbeing and confidence and through this to help people cope better with the changes happening in their lives.

Our transport service helps patients get to and from Trinity for appointments, peer support groups and events. As an integral part of a small team, volunteer escorts help patients from their door to the minibus (driven by our driver) and keep them comfortable and safe throughout their journey.

Key responsibilities

  • Assisting patients on the minibus taking them to and from Royal Trinity
  • Supporting the Driver to assist patients in and out of their home
  • Assisting the Driver if a patient becomes unwell during the journey
  • Being a welcoming, friendly and reliable travel companion for patients
  • Feeding back relevant information from patients to the Transport Coordinator

  • Trustworthy and reliable
  • Understanding of the boundaries within the role of a volunteer

Other information

This role will require a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, which will be of no cost to the volunteer. Having a criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from undertaking volunteering with Royal Trinity.

All volunteers receive a Volunteer Handbook which sets out Trinity’s relationship and way of working with volunteers. This includes key policies and procedures.
