The RNLI has a network of local fundraising teams organising a wide range of activities and events which last year raised £14 million to save lives at sea. Each team is supported by a Community Fundraising Manager although the range and frequency of fundraising events is determined by the team members themselves.
Alongside these teams, many people raise funds on an individual basis on behalf of the RNLI and, a number of businesses also choose the RNLI as their charity of the year. As part of this commitment, the businesses look at a number of different initiatives to raise funds throughout the year to support our lifesaving organisation. As a charity we are grateful and welcome all of these different fundraising initiatives and we are constantly looking at how we can build on these moving forward.
This is where you come in! If you have a little time on your hands together with an inquisitive mind you can support our charity by carrying out research into whether businesses within a specific area have a ‘Charity of the Year’ and if so, how they approach these relationships. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will stand you in good stead when making contact and engaging in conversation to gather information to help us make new corporate relationships and perhaps improve some of our current ones.
Becoming involved with the RNLI could offer you an opportunity to improve your CV, meet new people, learn new skills or just have fun with fundraising in your community. Some of our volunteers have been with us for many years whereas some just join us for a few months – whatever their commitments allow.
This is a great opportunity to really make a difference by raising vital funds for our volunteer crew members and lifeguards.
