Dignity in Dying

So that no one suffers needlessly and against their wishes in the final days or weeks of their life, Dignity in Dying campaigns for greater choice and control and access to services at the end of life. We advocate providing terminally ill adults with the choice of an assisted death, within strict legal safeguards, and for universal access to good quality end-of-life care.

As a volunteer you will be providing vital support to Dignity in Dying’s small but effective team.

Necessary Skills and Abilities

  • Good IT skills
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Organised and efficient.
  • The ability to work in a team, as well as on own initiative.
  • Commitment and reliability

Your responsibilities

You will be providing support with all aspects of the day to day running of the office and supporting our small fundraising team. You will be supervised and supported by Dignity in Dying staff to support us with a variety of tasks likely to include some of the following:

  • Assisting with opening mail and processing donations.
  • Keeping accurate records and inputting data onto our database (Raisers Edge).
  • Helping with correspondence and sending letters to members
  • Supporting the preparation of fundraising activity with proofreading and contributing ideas.

Location & Time commitment

Dignity in Dying’s office is located in central London on Oxford Street. We would require you to commit to at least one day per week for a minimum of three months, and if possible would ask that you come in for extra time during particularly busy periods (for example during a fundraising appeal).

You will be fully trained in all aspects of your role, and receive training on the Raisers Edge database. You will be supported by a dedicated member of staff, and receive monthly catch ups to enable development in areas that are of particular interest to you.

This role will give you a unique insight into Dignity in Dying, and will develop/enhance your understanding of the way that third sector fundraising departments function and are successful.

We are able to reimburse travel & lunch expenses. Please be aware that our office is unfortunately not accessible for volunteers with reduced mobility due to there not being full lift access, we are very sorry for any inconvenience caused.
