Mayday Event Assistant- Do your bit, fund our kit!

Mayday Mayday Mayday! We’re searching for people who would like to support our Mayday Campaign and help us to raise money for our volunteer Crew kit. By volunteering to fundraise this May, you will be doing your bit to help us raise £750,000 to go towards funding vital kit that will protect our crews and help them return safely to shore.

We are looking for volunteers to help out at our Family Fun Day which takes place on Sunday 28th May at Skegness Lifeboat Station.  The event will take place between 11.00am and 3.00pm, where we will be hosting a range of activities including colouring competitions, table top games and treasure hunts.  You role will be to help run these activities on the day.

Mayday is the RNLI’s national fundraising and awareness campaign and runs throughout the whole of May. Our volunteer lifeboat crews are on call 24hours a day, every day, to help save lives and prevent tragedies at sea. They have to be ready to act at a moment’s notice, battling heavy seas and treacherous weather conditions- putting themselves at risk every time they respond to a call for help.

The RNLI is a charity- 95% of our total income comes from donations. We are separate from the Coastguard and independent from the Government, so we couldn’t do what we do without the generosity and support of people like you. Together we can save even more lives at sea.

This is a volunteer opportunity within the RNLI.  RNLI volunteers are people who, unpaid and of their own free will, contribute their time, energy and skills to support the purposes of the RNLI.  RNLI volunteers may perform a variety of tasks and duties, under direction and guidance, using their skills, knowledge and time to help the RNLI best achieve its objectives.

We respect and honour our volunteers by building trust and understanding.  Such a partnership is not intended to be a legally binding contract or to have mutuality of obligation, but instead express a voluntary two-way commitment where everyone gains satisfaction from being part of our organisation.
