The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. We are constantly seeking new and innovative ways to prevent drowning through our ‘Rescue, Influence, Supervise and Educate’ model.
The RNLI’s Digital Transformation team have risen to the challenge by developing a 2 year pilot project to see whether the online game Minecraft can be used effectively to increase knowledge of beach safety among children and young people. The first year of the pilot received an enthusiastic response so the team is now ready to launch a new exciting world to Minecraft fans (aged between 7 and 14 years) at the end of July 2016.
We anticipate a rush of online gaming activity following the launch so we are looking to recruit a willing volunteer to assist the team with managing sign-up requests and responding to enquiries about the game. The role will be based in the RNLI headquarters in Poole.
Are you an experienced gamer with an awareness of online dangers and reporting procedures? Could you use your skills and experience to keep young people safe both online and at the beach?
If so, this could be a great opportunity to join an innovative enthusiastic team, gain valuable experience, and contribute to saving lives at sea without even getting wet!
