The RNLI's Lifeboat Station in Loch Ness is looking to hear from anyone in the community who would be interested in volunteering for the RNLI in a number of roles including crew, station management, marketing, education and fundraising.

With works underway on a new boathouse and the forthcoming arrival of a new boat Loch Ness is seeking to recruit members of the local community to become part of the team. The RNLI offers a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills that will enhance your CV or further utilise the skills and knowledge you already have.

The latest and fastest inshore lifeboat in the RNLI fleet will be stationed at the new lifeboat station once works are completed in April 2018. This investment funded entirely by voluntary contributions will provide essential lifesaving resources to the users of Loch Ness.

We are currently seeking to recruit volunteers for the roles of;

Lifeboat Crew
Deputy Launch Authority
Box Collectors
Fundraising Events Coordinators
Lifeboat Press Officers

The Lifeboat Crew are all volunteers, headed up by the Lifeboat Operations Manager and Deputy Launching Authorities and supported by a Shore Crew team. All boat and shore crew follow the RNLI's national Competency Based Training Scheme and respond to pagers when there is a request to launch the lifeboats. The station is further supported by a wider team which includes volunteer fundraisers and shop volunteers who raise vital funds for the RNLI to save lives at sea.

The role of Lifeboat Crew is to undertake and maintain Competency Based Training as necessary to fulfil the role of crew member, to be on call for lifeboat 'shouts', to attend exercises and to contribute to the overall upkeep of the station, lifeboats and equipment.

This is a good opportunity to join a motivated and enthusiastic local team and have the satisfaction of contributing to saving lives at sea.

If you are a team player with good general fitness and the ability to learn new skills this could be the role for you. No previous maritime experience needed.

If you feel that you can make a contribution to the team and would like to gain the satisfaction of playing your part in the local community we would love to hear from you.
