The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. The RNLI’s Grace Darling Museum in Bamburgh illustrates Victorian Britain's greatest heroine's upbringing and life on the lighthouse, the events of the rescue that propelled her into the limelight and the nature of that subsequent fame. Her story is told through personal items, including letters, family portraits and the famous coble. Entry is free and the museum is open 7 days a week in summer, and 6 days a week in winter.
The museum is a very small site so we currently encourage coach groups to pre-book their visit but many do not. This causes overcrowding in the museum, especially if a coach group arrives while a school group is already on site.
We are looking for someone to help persuade coach tour operators to pre-book their visits to our tiny museum. In this home-based role, you will compile a list of coach groups running trips to North Northumberland, match these to groups who have previously visited the museum and then contact them to encourage pre-booked visits to the Grace Darling Museum instead of arriving unannounced. You will join a small but passionate team who are dedicated to preserving the RNLI's heritage.
If you’re inquisitive, like speaking to people and are interested in gaining marketing experience then this role might be just the one for you.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for somebody who is looking to utilise their current skills or gain new experience to develop their CV. If this sounds like something you would like to be involved in, and you feel you have the qualities or potential to be successful, we would be delighted to hear from you.
