Volunteers are urgently need to help and support isolated people in Newport. Your time can really help make a difference to someone's life.
Over 3.9 million people say that TV is their main source of company. They be lonely and isolated for many reasons such as losing a loved one or health issues. This can have a huge impact on their wellbeing.
Volunteer Befrienders are needed to provide support and companionship to older people to break the cycle of isolation and give them something to look forward to each week. You might be visiting someone in their homes, going out somewhere or supporting them to access activities in their communities.
We are looking for reliable, empathetic individuals who are good at listening and enjoy getting to know people.
By volunteering as a Befriender you will be helping others while getting enjoyment out of it yourself. Your volunteering can fit around your other commitments and you only need to be able to give 1-2 hours a week.
All volunteers will have to undergo a DBS check and supply 2 character references.
