Expectation for the role
Escape seeks to appoint new Trustees and a Treasurer to join the existing Board for an initial three-year term. The newly appointed Trustees will support the Chair and offer their expertise and guidance to the Artistic Director Karen Williams and the Business Manager Rebecca Wass to lead the organisation into the future.
You will need to share a passion for our work and our commitment to being an equal, diverse, inclusive and environmentally sustainable organisation.
We are looking for trustees with influence and authority, strategic thinking and sound judgement and the ability to be outstanding advocates for the organisation. We seek to appoint individuals with commercial and political awareness, access to broad networks across the private and/or public sectors and a willingness to make connections on Escape's behalf, including helping to raise funds for the charity.
To complement the current board's skills and in light of the forthcoming retirement of some existing board members, we are interested to appoint trustees with particular strengths in the following areas:
- Fundraising, including the ability to access personal, public or private sector networks for the Lyric's benefit
- Communications and advocacy
- Education, training and skills development
- Commercial acumen and entrepreneurism
- Digital strategy and innovation
- Connections with our local community in Stratford Upon Avon, Nuneaton and across Warwickshire.
We are proud of the diversity of our board and wish to continue to extend the range of backgrounds and perspectives represented. We are particularly interested to hear from potential trustees who are under 35 or from diverse ethnic backgrounds. The role of trustee is voluntary and likely to take around 4 - 6 days of your time each year.
