What do we do?

Citizens Advice is a charity which aims to provide free, independent, confidential & impartial advice to help people face their problems. We provide a range of advice services to people across the county borough of Bridgend, at a time when welfare reforms [e.g. universal credit] and economic austerity are increasing local demand for those services.

Could you help make a real difference?

We are looking for new Trustees to join our board. You should be passionate about wanting to make a difference, and value all people regardless of disability, gender or race.

We particularly welcome applications from women, and from local people whose skills & life experiences could help people around you who are struggling with uncertainty, problems & pressures, as we want the composition of the Board to reflect the diversity in the clients with whom we work.

Your commitment

We want hands-on Trustees who have the time actively to make a difference to the growth of the charity. Trustees are expected to attend one board meeting and one sub-committee meeting each quarter. We also have an annual planning & review "away-day".

If you're also able to give some additional time to contribute to working groups, policy discussions & fundraising opportunities on an ad-hoc basis, then that would be great but is not essential. Although trustees give their time for free, travel costs and other reasonable out-of-pocket expenses are payable.

Our commitment to you

Being a Trustee is extremely rewarding and you can gain vital skills and experience in leadership, management and governance even if you are previously unfamiliar with working as part of committees. We offer training & support to all trustees, as well as a thorough induction.

What next?

Please send us an email to kate.henson@bcbcab.org.uk and we will send you out a recruitment pack, including a simple application form. Closing date is Friday 29 June 2018.
