The UNA-UK Board has recently been through an exciting strategic planning process and adopted a new strategic plan.
UNA-UK is the only UK charity devoted to making a case for the United Nations to British policy-makers and the public. We campaign for UK support for UN principles and programmes. Internationally we focus on building a more effective United Nations. Our flagship campaign – 1 for 7 Billion – to open up the selection process for the UN Secretary-General is one example of when we have had a global impact.
The Trustees will work in partnership with the Chair, the Executive Director and UNA-UK’s small but dynamic team of nine employees, to help them achieve the aims of the organisation. The Trustee’s role will be to promote and strengthen the reputation and impact of UNA-UK. S/he will represent the charity and its aims externally, exerting positive influence with key stakeholders and raise its profile. Trustees will provide the strategic direction for the charity and ensure that all appropriate financial and legal checks and balances are in place.
The UNA-UK Board is particularly keen to appoint Trustees who demonstrate considerable experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Fundraising from members, donors, trusts and the private sector – our top priority
- Media engagement – to reach new audiences and improve the impact of UNA-UK’s work
- Youth engagement – to improve youth participation in UNA-UK’s work including youth outreach
- Governance and Management
