Emmaus Gloucestershire is a successful social enterprise that provides accommodation and meaningful work for 30 formerly homeless people (Companions). Companions work for 40 hours a week in our five retail shops and warehouse, generating the income that sustains the community.

They are currently looking for Trustees to join their Board. Alongside the usual duties of a Trustee - including giving strategic direction to the organisation, setting overall policy, ensuring effective and efficient administration and financial stability - Emmaus Gloucestershire's trustees are expected to play a role in the life of the Emmaus Gloucestershire community.

This means that alongside attending Board meetings, and using your specialist skills to develop our work through involvement in a Board committee, you might be out helping on the soup run, running a marathon to raise money for another local charity with our Companions, canoeing down the river Wye on a community social, or joining a ten pin bowling trip.

It's an unique community of people, where there is no paternalistic hierarchy, rather a shared goal in delivering financial sustainability and success for and with our Companions.

We can offer you training in your governance role, a banter over tea in the community house, and travel expenses when needed.

We are particularly looking for people who are able to think strategically and use their skills to help them grow new partnerships and their community and businesses. Following a recent skills audit, we are especially looking for people who can bring social care, HR, property management or business development experience. We are particularly keen to encourage applications from people currently under-represented on our Board, for example, black and minority ethnic people and women.

Working hours are flexible depending on your availability. Volunteer expenses will be reimbursed.
