The Orchard Project is a national charity, dedicated to bringing orchards into the heart of urban communities. We believe community orchards transform lives and help nature to thrive, so we support people to create new community orchards or restore existing ones back to health. We primarily work in urban areas, where people's access to local green space is often limited.
Our charity's focus is on helping the environment as well as developing urban communities. Through community orchards, we help strengthen and connect communities, improve local green spaces for people and wildlife to enjoy, train volunteers to learn new skills, create community-based events and activities, and develop a local free source of healthy fresh fruit.
We specifically work in London, Greater Manchester, Leeds/West Yorkshire, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Building on ten years of success and growth, we are looking for two new trustees to help us grow the charity's impact and reach. We are particularly interested to recruit trustees with marketing, policy and evaluation/impact assessment experience.
This is an amazing opportunity to get under the hood of our ambitious and dynamic charity and help us with our mission. As a national charity we have reach, but are also small enough to be very agile with decision making. Your input will make a huge difference to our development. We have a lively and friendly Board and we are keen to welcome new people to engage in our journey.
The roles are unremunerated, although reasonable expenses are paid. The annual commitment will be based around 4-6 Board meetings.
