Would you like to make a difference to the lives of some of the UK's most vulnerable babies and their families?

About us

Bliss is the UK's leading charity for premature and sick babies: our vision is that every baby born premature or sick in the UK has the best chance of survival and quality of life. Since our foundation by parents in 1979 we have grown to a charity of over £2 million, working across the UK to deliver our mission by empowering families, influencing policy and practice, and enabling life-changing research.

The role

We are recruiting new Trustees to join our passionate and committed Board, to support the charity's governance and overall strategic direction.

About you

We need people who can help us achieve our ambitious plans, who are good at reviewing and challenging those plans to help us to improve them, and who have the time and skills to commit to this important role. In particular, we are keen to hear from applicants with background, skills and experience in any of the following areas:

  • Senior role in medium-sized (c.£5M-£25M turnover)charity, particularly with a fundraising or policy background
  • Digital / technology / innovation
  • Analytical / strategic skillset

We are also keen to hear from applicants with a diversity of experiences and backgrounds to ensure our board fully reflects our beneficiaries. Previous board/trustee experience is not necessary, and we welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds.

Why apply?

As a trustee you will join the charity at a critical time as we address the impact of COVID-19 on neonatal care while also continuing to deliver our 2019-2022 strategy. There is so much more to do for sick and tiny babies in the UK and to provide much needed emotional and practical help for their families - one in seven babies in the UK needs specialist support after birth. Bliss is passionately committed to ensuring that all babies and their families have the best possible care wherever they are born. Join us to help us make a difference!

We really value the diversity of ideas and skills that Trustees can bring, and welcome applications that can help us reflect this on our Board.

For further information go to for a full recruitment pack. Applications are by CV and covering letter, to be submitted by 9am on Monday 2nd November 2020 to: with the subject 'Trustee Recruitment'. Interviews will be held over zoom in mid-November.
