We are seeking to appoint up to 3 new trustees who have an interest in supporting small charities that are working to improve the lives of disadvantaged people. You will be part of a small team of trustees who meet 3 times a year to shape the strategic direction of the Trust and make decisions on allocating grants.

To complement the current board's skills, we are seeking individuals who ideally have grant making experience and/or a background of working (or volunteering) within one or more of our priority areas.

To ensure that our work continues to reflect the range of charities that we support through our grant making, we wish to diversify our current gender-balanced board and extend representation within the Trust. We are particularly interested to receive applications from individuals from underrepresented groups.

You will help the Trust distribute effectively its limited resources to small charities operating in England and Wales. From time to time you will be requested to undertake assessment and/or monitoring visits independently or with the Trust Secretary to help increase your understanding of the work we support.

Existing trustees are in London and the North West of England. We would therefore like new trustees to come from Wales or other regions of England.

Trustee meetings are all held in central London - within walking distance of Euston and King's Cross stations. The trustees appointed must be prepared to travel to the capital up to 3 times per year for these meetings - typically held on Thursdays (11am-2pm) in March, July and November. Full travel expenses will, of course be met. Because meetings are relatively infrequent it is important that all trustees make every effort to attend.

How to Apply

Please send a copy of your CV and a one page supporting statement outlining your interest in the vacancy and your relevant background, skills and experience to: info@yappcharitabletrust.org.uk marked for the attention of Joanne Anderson, Trust Secretary. If you would to discuss the vacancies then please contact Joanne on 0191 3893300.

Closing Date

5pm on Monday, 21st January 2019. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview (in London) in the week beginning 25th February 2019, in London. Successful candidates will be invited to attend the March 2019 Trustee meeting as an observer before any formal appointment is made.
