At Copenhagen Youth Project our mission is to engage and inform children and young people aged 7-25 to provide them with choices supporting their individual learning and personal development.
We provide a safe, caring, youth-led space for disadvantaged young people based in Islington where they can learn, develop and build towards a brighter future. Having started out 15 years ago as a grassroots local effort to tackle problems faced and expressed by local children and young people, we have developed into an established local charity with a strong track record, supported by a number of long-term funders.
Our current projects include weekly youth club sessions, employment advice, football and cooking clubs. We currently work with between 300-400 young people and in 2017 we successfully delivered over 500 sessions with an attendance of over 5,000 participants.
We are seeking to appoint a new trustee to strengthen our management committee and help the charity achieve its objectives. In particular we are seeking an individual who will bring strong governance skills and experience of senior leadership in the following areas:
- Child Protection
- Data Protection
We are particularly keen to attract a candidate from a diverse background as we seek to ensure the composition of the board reflects the diversity of the beneficiaries we work with.
The Board meets quarterly for two-hour meetings. Trustee roles are for an initial three-year term and are unpaid but reasonable expenses can be claimed.
