Alcohol Concern are currently looking for a Treasurer to join their Board.

About us

Our vision: is of a world where alcohol does no harm.  We help people through information, advice and guidance, help professionals through training, projects and research, and help all of us through campaigning to challenge the drinking culture in our country.  More information about our work is on our website

Our Core Values

Bravery - We are brave and honest about a difficult issue that can affect people from all walks of life. We are not afraid to be unpopular by stating the evidence about alcohol and we are not afraid to challenge the alcohol industry, government or out of date ways of thinking.

Independence - We will work with other organisations who genuinely want to reduce harm caused by alcohol. To maintain our independence, we not accept donations from the alcohol industry but we rely on contributions from individual supporters, earned income and grants. We see working with local and central government as a vital way of achieving our vision of a world where alcohol does no harm.

Evidence based - We promote understanding about the problems that alcohol can cause and the policy solutions. We base our research, lobbying, and campaigns on evidence. We source our facts from rigorous peer reviewed academic research, national governments and their agencies, and respected international institutions such as the World Health Organisation.

Our annual turnover is c £1.2m, our funding comes from a mixture of grants (eg Welsh Government, Trusts and Foundations), Big Lottery Fund, Comic Relief, individual donations and consultancy and training contracts.  We have an office in Cardiff and 3 staff based in Wales as well as our HQ in London where we have 9 members of staff.

Our Board of Trustees:  Our Chair is Richard Sumray, we have 14 other trustees including our Treasurer who is standing down after 30 years service. More information about current board members is at
