The ASA and the RNLI are working in partnership to deliver Swim Safe for the third successive year. Programmes in 2013, 2014 and 2015 saw almost 6,000 children participate and learn how to be safe in different water environments. This year we are also delivering a schools programme. The programme offers free improver swimming sessions and beach safety advice for children aged 7-14. Most young people learn to swim in an indoor pool which is a safe and familiar environment.  Swim Safe gives young people the opportunity to test and improve their swimming ability in a different aquatic environment.

Children are being offered the opportunity to attend the free 45 minute session which will include beach safety advice provided by RNLI lifeguards and up to 30 minutes in-water tuition with ASA accredited teachers. The programme is weather dependent and sessions will be adjusted accordingly.

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who would like to get involved in a variety of different activities throughout the day to ensure that the events are successful and all children and parents have a great experience. For example, activities might include co-ordinating bookings and swimmer registrations, distributing goody bags, assisting with feedback questionnaires and helping the children with their wetsuits and swimming equipment if required. Whether it’s one of these activities or more, your assistance will be very much appreciated to help ensure that the Swim Safe Team are able to provide this fantastic opportunity to children to help to keep them safe in the water.

This is a great volunteer opportunity for someone who is friendly and approachable; if you have some of the skills mentioned or would like to gain experience in this type of role and would like to join a dedicated and motivated team, we would be delighted to hear from you.
