Support Worker - Physical/Learning Disabilities

If so, we have exciting opportunities for Support Workersto support a range of visually impaired individuals on a 1:1 basis to help facilitate them in their own workplace. This is a role where the right candidates will empower and enable our Client in their job. The role is not one of doing the tasks for our Client, it is supporting them whilst encouraging and promoting independence.
All of our Client’s workplace locations are all within London.

You will assist individuals on a 1:1 basis with sensory impairments, physical disabilities and/or learning disabilities within their workplace under the Access To Work scheme. We are looking for people who are passionate about supporting disabled people to feel empowered in their place of working, by offering specialist 1:1 support which identifies solutions to barriers which may affect their duties.
Your responsibilities to the Client will be to provide physical, practical and emotional support so they are able to work independently in their workplace. There are a range of duties you will perform to support the Client in being able to work independently. This can be anything from assisting with navigation and orientation; Reading out written or web-based material to Client; Assisting the Client with use of their computer; Accompanying client with regional travel as part of Client’s role; Assisting client with hot drinks and lunch.
Able to empower individuals and promote independence
Have a good understanding of the social model of disability
Down to earth and easy to get on with
Excellent written & speaking English
Be flexible and adaptable to changing working patterns
Excellent IT skills (proficient use of Microsoft Packages: Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Some car drivers may be needed for certain Clients, but not all (Full UK licence will be required)
Flexible shifts patterns (dependant on Client - min 5 hrs p/w, max 40 hrs p/w), on-going work
Visual Impairment awareness training can be obtained ‘on-the-job’
25p per mile car allowance (if applicable)
Pay Rate: £10.50 per hour (weekly pay)
