Title:

Support Group Volunteer

Responsible to:

Volunteer Manager & Adult Team Manager

Role Purpose:

Provide a welcoming, safe environment and refreshments to carers attending the support group.

Location:

St Peters Church, Balsall Common, Holly Lane, CV7 7EA and Bosworth Community Centre, 291a Bosworth Lane, Chelmsley Wood, Solihull Fire station, 620 Streetsbrook Road, B91 1QY

Hours of work:

12:30 - 15:00 every 3rd Thursday of the month, 2nd Wednesday of each month for Chelmsley Wood, 3rd Tuesday of month Solihull. Other flexible hours to help plan and publicise events.

Tasks &responsibilities involved:

Prepare, serve and clear up refreshments (tea, coffee & biscuits)

Meet and welcome carers arriving at the group.

Introduce any new carers to other carers.

Listen to and converse with carers, answering or referring any questions to the Support Group Leader.

Join in any group activities.

Skills. knowledge & experience required:

Effective listening and communication skills.

Ability to relate to and empathise with carers.

Ability to respect the confidentiality of the carer and any information they give.

Personal qualities required:

Bright and positive personality.

Non-judgmental and reliable.

Induction:

General Induction

Health & Safety, Risk Assessment at venues

Training:

Safeguarding

Review period:

Induction review after first 2 sessions.

On-going reviews every 2 months.

Expenses:

Mileage or bus fare incurred from travelling to and from main office and events locations.
