An amazing opportunity has arisen for a Student Welfare Officer to join an active student services team. Here you will engage with numerous departments; working collaboratively to provide the best possible outcomes for the students. As a student welfare officer, you will work across two campuses in central London providing support, advice and guidance to students on welfare related issues.
No one day is the same but here are a few things you might get up to:
*Provide guidance, information and advice relating to student welfare and pastoral care and manage a caseload of student welfare matters
*Offer support to students who are experiencing emotional or practical difficulties that will affect their learning
*Offer an emergency service for students in immediate distress
*Advise students with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and mental health illnesses
*Act as an advocate for students when necessary
In order to make a success of this role, you will have:
*Experience working within student welfare in a higher education environment
*Advocated or mediated for students or young people previously
*An understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment
*Working knowledge of means-tested and other benefits, particularly in relation to students in FE/ HE (student loans, grants, charitable awards) and an ability to advise on and implement reasonable adjustments
