Student Services and Programmes Manager

The Role:

Working across two principal Faculty sites (St Georges, Tooting and Kingston Hill, Kingston) you will be responsible for leading and managing the administration and support for academic programmes and related student services covering the Faculty's Health and Social Care portfolio. You will also manage the post of Student Support Officer which provides support for students across the Faculty. Working with the Chief Operating Officer, you will support strategic development of administrative capacity for academic programmes offered by both Universities, and liaise with respective University services to optimise the student experience. As a member of the Faculty Professional Administration
Management Team, you will work collegially to develop new initiatives, resolve issues and harness a shared approach to achieving high standards in professional service across the Faculty.

Team Management 

Lead and manage the professional administration teams delivering student services and programmes support for the Faculty's Health and Social Care portfolio; providing effective guidance, mentoring and line management support, and developing a culture of professional customer service excellence. 

Proactively plan and monitor team workload to make the best use of skills and resources by promoting teamwork and multi-skilling in order to meet the needs of the Faculty.

Provide effective performance management; undertake regular reviews alongside an annual appraisal for each member of staff to help develop and support individual and collective team objectives.

The Role- Academic Programme and Student Services Administration

Manage and support the development and implementation of student services and maintain an efficient and effective administrative function for academic programmes, aligned with the Faculty's strategic objectives and operational targets, and in adherence to University policies.
Lead the continuous review, development and embedding of relevant administrative policies and processes supporting student services and academic programmes, working collaboratively with other Faculty administration managers and relevant colleagues from University service teams.
 Regularly analyse and review management information relating to student services and academic programmes to ensure an effective contribution to strategic and operational planning and compliance with external reporting requirements.
Represent Faculty professional administration and support at School Management Group meetings as and when requested, advising on business covering student services and academic programme administration.
Be responsible for ensuring that relevant Faculty and University policies, procedures, regulations and deadlines are applied and understood across student services and academic programme administration areas.
Manage implementation of administrative processes to support operational arrangements for NHS regulated education and training service contracts (including Workforce Development) and formal institutional agreements with other national (and international) partners, working with relevant University services teams.
Work with the Data, Quality and Reporting Manager to ensure adherence to University quality assurance policies, and to collectively support administrative inputs to and outcomes from institutional quality audits and inspections.
Work with the Data, Quality and Reporting Manager to compile data returns and manage reports required for external reporting purposes (e.g. for Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) requirements and NHS regulated education and training service contracts) including student admissions, timetabling, progression and awards.
Work with the Practice Education Support Manager to administer and manage practice education/learning requirements for Health and Social Care portfolio.
Maintain an overview of working relationships between administration teams supporting students and academic programmes, and relevant external partners.
Provide management support to the Student Support Officer, including guidance on University policies and regulations for students and the interface between the two Universities. Work with the Associate Dean, course directors and other academic leads to implement Faculty measures to optimise the student experience through student services and programmes administration.
Work in liaison with relevant colleagues in the University services (e.g. Academic Registry,
Admissions and Marketing and Communications) to build interconnected administration to ensure a smooth transition for students from admission to enrolment as part of the student experience.
Deputise, with full decision-making authority, for the Chief Operating Officer as required on student services and academic programme administration relating to the Health and Social Care portfolio at both Universities.
