A fantastic international NGO with headquarters in north-east London is seeking an experienced Programme Finance Officer for an exciting new role. This represents a chance to join a dynamic and topical organisation who are genuinely committed to achieving a healthy planet.
The organisation is growing significantly and this role will involve working on 4 of their programmes: Forests, Harmful Chemicals, Oceans and Wildlife.
The Senior Programme Finance Officer is responsible for supporting the Head of Programme and Project Leaders in the correct allocation of resources to grant portfolios, monitoring spend and projections, keeping budgets under continuous review, meeting all donor requirements, and continuously providing financial analysis internally and externally to donors. The managed portfolios include four programmes. The post holder will also be the interface between the Programmes and the Finance department.
Key duties include:
-Support the Head of Programme with the preparation of the programme budget and the correct allocation of staff and other resources to the grants portfolio
-Work closely with the Head of Programme projecting allocations and identifying overall programme funding requirements
-Keep grant budgets under continuous review, identify, investigate and report budget variances providing regular financial information and analysis to the Head of Programme and other programme team members as required
-Draft grant budgets for project proposals according to the needs of the programme and to ClientEarth financial guidelines for cost recovery and overheads.
-Lead on due diligence work on partner organisations, assist project partners where required with drafting budgets and the development of appropriate reporting systems
-Support the financial assessment of new grant proposals and the review of grant agreements (co-financing, currency risks, etc.)
-Manage the administration of all financial aspects of grant/donor funded projects monitoring the implementation of grants to be aligned with donors contractual requirements
-Preparing accurate grant financial reports in line with donor reporting formats and timescales
-Educated to at least degree level (essential)
-Knowledge of charity financial management demonstrable by experience (essential)
-Accounting qualification (desirable)
-Sufficient relevant experience in a similar capacity for an NGO or a charity (essential)
-Demonstrable experience of financial administration of a portfolio of grants (essential)
-Demonstrable experience of preparation of budgets and grant financial reports (ideally trusts, foundations and institutional donors such as DfID and EU) (essential)
-Experience and knowledge of donor funding and compliance (essential)
-Experience of working with multiple currencies (essential)
-Good knowledge of charity financial processes including allocation of project costs and apportionment of cost recovery (essential)
-Advanced excel skills and strong general IT skills (essential)
