This leading environmental campaigning charity is looking for an experienced senior press officer with a passion for environmental issues and campaigning. 

As part of a small and dynamic team responsible for content and media work, you will use your media and digital publicity skills to help us coordinate the charity’s social media channels and lead the news agenda. 

Main Responsibilities
Use your creative skills and experience to develop media strategies, working closely with their campaign and project teams.
Deliver a broad range of high quality and targeted media coverage in a range of different media including online, print and broadcast.
Advise campaigners on media plans for their projects and support them to do broadcast interviews.
Provide a quick and professional response to journalist requests and develop punchy and relevant press statements in response to external news announcements.
Support communications through creating engaging content for our Twitter and Facebook channels.
Edit and write blogs and articles for external web sites  

Key Skills and Attributes
Significant experience of working in a busy press office and responding to media requests.
Experience of coming up with innovative and creative publicity ideas that have achieved results.
Demonstrable ability to turn complex issues or causes into news stories that resonate with the public.
Ability to demonstrate excellent judgement on reputational risk.
Experience of using an organisational Twitter and/or Facebook account and being knowledgeable about what works for different social media channels.
Great writing skills for different types of media and communications channels.
A good understanding and interest in how the media works and digital first.
A strong interest in environmental issues and/or experience of working in an organisation promoting environment concerns.
Experience of training or mentoring others to develop their communications skills.
