TPP is currently working with a professional membership body who are seeking to hire a Public Affairs Adviser on a permanent basis. Reporting into the Head of Public Affairs, you will support them and ensure that the profession our client represents, is building it's voice and influence across governments, parliaments and stakeholders.

You will help deliver our client's strategy and increase awareness of the vital role that our client represents, plays an important role in supporting, by bringing their policy and research programme into the heart of government. You will draft key outputs that will their policy and research positions are communicated with all relevant stakeholders, and build and maintain relationships with strategic partners including politicians, political advisers and parliamentarians, policy makers, civil servants and other external agencies to amplify their message and increase visibility.

Your duties and responsibilities will include :

    • Help raise the profile, credibility & influence of our client with key individuals & audiences across the public, private & voluntary sectors, and within government.
    • Gather political intelligence and engage in regular horizon scanning to identify areas of government and public concern that are relevant to our client's policy priorities and to raise with the Head of Public Affairs.
    • Monitor and report on government, parliamentary and political party activity related to our client's key issues, providing briefings on parliamentary issues and advice to internal colleagues on political issues.
    • Support delivery of political events in parliament and elsewhere to bring our client's policy messages directly to the policy makers.

Your experience and skillsets will include :

  • Good track record of stakeholder management and building partnerships across the public, private and voluntary sectors.

  • Experience of working in public policy, public affairs, public relations, or political work (working with MPs, MEPs etc).

  • Political experience of working in a Parliament or government department.

  • Experience writing policy briefings, consultation responses or thought leadership pieces.
