We are partnering with a mission-driven organisation focused on strengthening community connections to recruit a Schools Project Officer. This vital administrative role serves as the primary contact for projects involving the development and maintenance of school sites and buildings.

The Contract
* Hours - 35 hours per week
* Location - Canterbury, Kent (flexibility for some home working)
* Contract - 3-year fixed term with possibility of extension
* Salary - £29,767 per annum plus excellent benefits

About role
As the Schools Project Officer, you will report to the Schools Officer and collaborate with the Children, Young People, and Education team.

Key Responsibilities
* Track progress on school site projects, proactively addressing issues to maintain timelines.
* Attend meetings with the Schools Officer regarding new schools and building projects, completing follow-up tasks promptly.
* Manage the departmental mailbox and coordinate responses with team members and advisers.
* Assist in managing capital grant expenditures and confirm requests from schools and contractors.
* Guide schools on Devolved Formula Capital (DFC) funds, suitable projects, and prioritisation.
* Lead initiatives on decarbonisation engagement, land registrations, and support academy conversions.
* Learn technical skills relevant to the role to provide support to school leaders and governors.
* Help identify opportunities for generating income on behalf of the organisation.

About you
* Understanding and/or experience of business administration or supporting projects, able to apply understanding to tasks and explain progress to those with no specialist understanding
* Forward thinking, adaptable and responsive to a varied work programme
* Ability to self-manage, using initiative to prioritise work and achieve deadlines
* Excellent inter-personal skills, able to demonstrate sensitivity and integrity
