A leading London based community charity focused on environmental issues is seeking a talented Project Accountant for a permanent role.
The role will involve accounting for ongoing projects and programmes, will involve liaising with funders, and working with complex data and Excel. The role can be based in any of the charity's central, east or west London offices.
The position provides critical financial management in respect of the delivery of projects and programmes. You will liaise with internal staff, programme partners, funders and other stakeholders delivering a high standard of work and communicating complex financial information to a diverse audience, and producing detailed reporting and monitoring information to Trust and funder required standards.
Specific duties include:
-Support the Director of Finance & Corporate Services in developing and implementing financial management and control systems to meet the Trust's evolving needs
-Oversee day to day financial systems including; sales ledger, purchase ledger, nominal ledger, cashbook, petty cash, project management (time and direct cost), bank reconciliations & etc
-Ensure correct VAT treatment for all project income, expenditure and work, and in the preparation of quarterly VAT returns in conjunction with the Director of Finance & Corporate Services
-Produce monthly project financial accounts and reports for management
-Prepare monitoring reports and other financial returns as required for funders and sponsors, and ensure the Trust meets agreed funder requirements and claim deadlines
-Develop and implement mechanisms to ensure the Trust's financial planning is robust: e.g. to test and correct project budgets and report on resource implications
-Develop and implement financial information management and monitoring systems in conjunction with the Director of Finance & Corporate Services
-Ensure financial recording and administrative procedures operate effectively and meet all relevant legal and regulatory standards
-Relevant qualifications or studying towards same, and/or suitable experience in financial management and control
-Relevant experience in financial management of project budgets
-Experience of financial management software packages (ideally Sage 200 but not essential)
-Excellent IT skills including advanced knowledge and utilisation of MS Excel
-Knowledge of third Sector financial management and VAT (desirable)
