A leading academic institution based in central London is seeking a committed and dedicated Porter to undertake a wide range of activities including post-room and mail duties, management of deliveries, setting up classrooms and general operations and customer service duties.
A full, clean driving licence is essential for this role as there will be some driving between campuses required.
The role will involve:
-Furniture movements around the School, including desks, chairs, filing cabinets and crates in a safe manner
-Preparing all Lecture Theatres and Seminar Rooms for teaching, courses or meetings in a timely manner
-Assisting in the preparation for Events, Conferences & Functions including table & chair arrangements
-Undertaking driving duties as assigned for business purposes only, using the School car
-Distribution of any external signed-for mail & parcels
-Managing the delivery of goods
-Managing the Brochure and Furniture Stores
-Distribution of all deliveries throughout the School including course materials to Lecture Theatres and Seminar Rooms
-To manage the service provided from the Porters lodge and prioritising as required
-Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers on all operational matter relating to deadlines and disruption to services
-Deal with staff/student enquiries/requests on Post Room and Portering matters
-To ensure one follows established procedures for each service request, including logging, processing and progress chasing enquiries, adhering to agreed Key Performance Indicators, Service Level Agreements and quality standards to maximise customer satisfaction
-Some experience on the latest Mail Sort technology and equipment is preferred
-Basic knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations, including Manual Handling regulations preferred
-Able to undertake moderate heavy lifting
-Experience working in a customer service environment
-An understanding of different culture and backgrounds
-A full, clean driving licence
-Excellent verbal and written English
The role will be for 40 hours per week on a shift basis (between the hours of 7am - 10pm) including some weekend work.
Candidates with post-room, facilities, cleaning, catering or previous experience as a Porter could all be suitable for this role as long as you can demonstrate a commitment to the role and have a full driving licence.
