Calling All experienced Policy Managers!

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Policy Engagement Manager to work for a professional medical body responsible for supporting psychiatrists throughout their careers from training through to retirement. They work to secure the best outcomes for people with mental illness by promoting excellent mental health services, supporting the prevention of mental illness, training outstanding psychiatrists, promoting quality and research, setting standards and being the voice of psychiatry.

This role will be to manage the College Engagement Network in England, responsible for working with representatives of the Network in line with the agreed engagement strategy and College priorities, ensuring College Officers and staff are regularly updated on activity, high level management of Network representatives, and helping to strategically deliver policy and campaigning objectives

Main responsibilities will include:

  • As the Policy Engagement Manager, you will strategically run the work of the Network in line with priorities agreed with senior stakeholders and to take forward work/projects developing out of the Network

  • Manage communications and discussions on specific areas of policy implementation and ensure insight from the Network is fed back to relevant teams and parts of the College

  • To identify and maintain high level working relationships with key external stakeholders relevant to the operation of the Network, including but not limited to NHS England/NHS Improvement adult mental health team leads and regional mental health leads.

  • You will lead on wider policy influencing work relating to local level NHS systems and structures, including (but not limited to) NHS reforms and the Community Mental Health Framework.

Your experience will include:

  • Experience of working in a similar or relevant organisation and managing regional/local engagement and local policy making

  • Strong interest in and experience of policy analysis, research and public policy development

  • Excellent written and verbal English

  • Experience of high-level working with internal and external stakeholders to gather views and opinions

  • Proven ability to work under pressure, managing several deadlines at the same time
