About the Organisation:
TPP's client is a leading national children's charity dedicated to helping disadvantage children across the UK. They have secured organisational funding for a Mental Health Practitioner for an 11 month project to be based between 3 services in Ayrshire, West Dunbartonshire and East Dunbartonshire.

The Role:
This unique secondment opportunity will afford the experience of working with 3 services - 2 in youth housing support and one in residential care, to provide direct support to young people and advice, consultation and training to staff to enable them to increase practice skills with mental health issues. Our client's Youth Housing Support services have residential elements housing 10 and 8 young people aged from 16-21 years. They are in Alexandria and Kirkintilloch respectively. The Ayrshire based residential service houses 4 children/young people.

How you'll make a difference:
You will be working in partnership with a range of peer professionals to undertake mental health assessments, offer advice, intervention and consultation services, in order to improve recognition, assessment and management of mental health difficulties. You will contribute to building strategies for positive mental health promotion within services and to individual children and young people.

About you:
The ideal candidate will either be a Mental Health Social Worker or Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), with Early Intervention experience and a working knowledge of specialist therapeutic approaches. Being a confident communicator, you will demonstrate the ability to engage with children, young people, their families and carers, and multi external agencies. You will also have the ability to safeguard and promote the welfare of the children. Having excellent time-management skills is a must, and be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the services.

What you'll need:
You will be a registered practitioner with SSSC or HCPC with relevant employment experience in a mental health setting. You will be required to travel between services in Ayrshire, West Dunbartonshire and East Dunbartonshire so driving is essential.

This position will be a good opportunity for a practitioner whose company or organisation supports the work of our client and who is innovative about opportunities for developing their workers through pioneering partnerships. This post is funded through an external partner, who is keen to see mental health support to young people making a difference to their lives.
