TPP's client is a leading national charity providing support to young people and adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. Our client believes in championing the right of disabled people to live, work, socialise and participate in the community, free of discrimination and unnecessary boundaries. They are seeking 3 male Support Workers in Derby to join their team. Shifts will be on a 7-day rota, 7am-2pm or 2pm-10pm.

This particular post is a genuine Occupational Requirement in accordance with the Equality Act 2010; Schedule 9; Part 1.

As a support worker, you'll give people with learning disabilities the confidence and encouragement to become more independent.

This is a responsible role which is really varied, sometimes challenging and often fun. The job is all about giving people encouragement, guidance and support so they can live as independently as possible, make their own choices and do the things they enjoy.

The gentleman you will be supporting is very physically active, he enjoys swimming, horse-riding, going to Zumba, trampolining, night clubbing, and many more activities so it's important that you are able to keep up with him!

He can display challenging behaviour so you must have previous experience of working with people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.

The important thing is that you have the compassion and integrity to treat people with respect.

A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle will be ideal.

On a daily basis, you may also be involved in support him with the following activities:

  • Cooking and cleaning
  • Personal Care
  • Paying bills/managing household finances
  • Going to health appointments and taking medicine
  • Going shopping
