It is an exciting time join the Combat Stress Fundraising Team, which consists of 21 people, most of whom are based at the Head Office in Leatherhead, Surrey.

We have recently embarked on an ambitious plan to double our income raised from Major Donor fundraising. The Major Donor team includes a Major Donor Manager and a Key Supporter Officer. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Researching and profiling high-net-worth individuals
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of stewardship and cultivation events
  • Ensuring Major Donor and Key Supporter records are kept up-to-date

Your days could involve

  • Preparing prospect tracking reports for the Major Donor Manager
  • Maintaining Major Donor and prospect records on the database Raisers Edge
  • Conducting detailed and accurate prospect and project-related research on individuals
  • Working with the Key Supporter Officer to identify new Major Donor prospects from the database
  • Preparing guest lists for Major Donor events and providing pen profiles for hosts
  • Assisting with Major Donor event management by liaising with venues and suppliers
  • Attending Major Donor events, where appropriate
  • Editing content on the Major Donor webpage
  • Copy writing and proof reading
  • Diary and correspondence management for the Major Donor Manager
  • Assisting with other administrative activities to ensure the smooth running of the team
  • Attending Major Donor team meetings and preparing and distributing minutes
  • Undertaking other tasks as necessary to contribute to the Fundraising Department


  • Marketing, Events Management and Public Relations degree or Equivalent


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and target driven
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Confident and positive approach
  • IT literate with experience of using Microsoft Office
  • Experience of working with databases
    • Understanding of the Data Protection Act and the implications for prospect research and fundraising


  • Good workable knowledge of Raisers Edge
  • Fundraising experience
  • Event Management experience

Experienced gained from the Internship

  • As a Major Donor and Key Supporter Intern you will gain valuable experience assisting with all aspects of major gift fundraising initiatives like prospect research, prospect tracking, and cultivation and stewardship events
  • This opportunity would be ideally suited to someone who wants to embark on a career in fundraising and is looking to gain experience of working in a fundraising environment, specifically major gifts
