A top University in London, renowned for its research and postgraduate courses are looking for a Legal and Compliance Assistant to support three teams across the University. This role is temporary and they are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible.
Working across the three teams, you will provide timely clerical and administrative support as well as providing a first line of service in respect of legal, immigration and data protection queries. Including paralegal support, advice on student immigration compliance and GDPR/ Freedom of Information Act requests, you will form an essential part of all three teams. You will also be researching, writing and delivering some sections of legal training and creating initial drafts of documents. As well as this, you will respond to subject access requests and freedom of information requests, helping to collate these where necessary.
In order to make a success of this role, you must have an honours degree in law and previous experience of working as a paralegal or legal assistant, as well as an understanding of the Higher Education sector. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable on a broad range of legal concepts, such as contract law, data privacy and freedom of information and employment law and be able to apply concepts of confidentiality to sensitive information.
