Lay Advisory Panel Members - voluntary roles

The College of Optometrists is the professional body for optometry and a registered charity, operating in the public interest, and incorporated by Royal Charter.

We are looking for members of the public who share our commitment to eye health, to contribute to our work and activities.

Our Lay Panel members play a vital role on our committees, working groups and Council, in providing an alternative viewpoint to question and challenge our activities and plans. They also provide specialist advice, based on their particular area of expertise.

No clinical knowledge is required and anyone with an interest in eye health is invited to apply. We would be particularly interested in volunteers with business, health policy or management, clinical education, academic/research and fundraising backgrounds.

This is a voluntary position for which reasonable expenses are reimbursed. There is one Lay Advisory Panel meeting each year, but panel members sit on other committees and will be asked to input to our work electronically.
The term of office is initially for 3 years.

The closing date for applications is 25 February 2019 by 5pm. Interviews will be held on 21 March 2019.
