A leading Think Tank providing cutting edge policy research is seeking a Head of Finance for an interim role for 4-6 months. This role will be the most senior finance person in the organisation and you will manage a small team. The role will mainly involve the day-to-day running if the finance department rather than any strategic budgeting or audit duties.

The role will involve:

-Producing monthly management accounts and appropriate reports for all budget holders to enable ownership of budgets and effective strategic decision making

-Producing financial reports for the Board, and being the key point of contact for the Treasurer

-Working with all budget holders and the Senior Management Team, manage the production of the annual budget and reforecast

-Supporting research staff in financial aspects of applications/bids and funder relationships

-Ensuring the accurate processing of all income and expenditure, including the submission of gift aid claims to HMRC

-Ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements as they apply to charities, in conjunction with professional advisors

-Provision and management of the sales ledger function, including raising sales invoices, maintenance of appropriate records, particularly funding agreements and inputting of information to the finance system in respect of all invoices raised. On raising of invoices, particular alertness required in relation to the VAT/Trading status of a particular income stream.

-Management and oversight of the full purchase ledger function

-Completing monthly bank and other balance sheet reconciliations.

-Producing quarterly VAT returns using partial exemption rules and logged online.

-Management & Review of contracts

Candidate requirements:

-Ideally CCAB qualified

-Understanding of charity accounting

-Demonstrable experience in a similar environment

-Experience of using Sage

-Experience of financial planning, budgeting, management and statutory account production

-Working knowledge of relevant regulatory regimes, in particular VAT and SORP 2015

-Commercial / financial acumen with experience of driving income generation / cost control

-Experience of preparing VAT returns

-Driven and tenancious personality
