The Idlewild Trust was founded in 1974 and awards grants of up to £5,000 to UK Charities that either:

- run programmes that address the lack of opportunities for professional musicians, dancers, actors, writers, artists and those involved creatively in the arts at an early stage in their career; or
- support the conservation of important works of art and historic objects being lost through the lack of funds to look after these works.

Until now, the Idlewild Trust has been managed by the same employee as the Peter Minet Trust (an independent place-based funder in Southwark). Both Trusts are independent charities with separate Boards - it has recently been decided that separate management and operations will best serve the needs of each charity going forwards. With both trusts viewing this as a positive opportunity to thrive and build new alliances in their respective sectors, this is a fantastic Interim Director role that will support the Idlewild Trust Board through this transition.

The focus of this assignment will be to work with the Idlewild Trust Board to consolidate Idlewild's operations as a separately run charity, to undertake Trustee recruitment and to plan ahead including consideration of when to re-open its grants programme and the recruiting of a permanent Director/Manager from the autumn. As an endowed charity, the Idlewild Trust is not engaged with any fundraising activity.

This part-time role (2 days per week) reports into the Chair of the Idlewild Trust and is expected to start in late March 2021. Successful applicants will bring a strong knowledge of Non-profit governance and a passion for the Arts/cultural sectors. This is a small organisation, so you will be comfortable working independently, and providing first-class support to a Board. Knowledge of grants and grant management is highly desirable. Please note that for this post, you will be supported by a freelance book-keeper.
