Human Resources Business Partner – £30,000 - J54722JH

We are recruiting for a HR Business Partner, for a UK charity that provides accommodation and support to homeless people. The salary will be £30,000 on a fixed term contract for 6 months reporting to the HR manager; please see further details on this role below.

Purpose of the role:

•To provide an effective and efficient human resources service to the organisation in accordance with policy and procedures.  
•To provide sound advice to managers on all aspects of people management, including recruitment, employee resourcing and employee relations.
•Support regional teams to drive organisational change via partnership working
•To undertake specific human resource projects as delegated by the Head of HR or HR Manager.                               

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

•Providing high level advice, guidance and case load coordination and support to Managers and employees on employee relations issues; including but not restricted to: investigations, disciplinary processes, grievance processes
•Monitoring sickness absence; referring employees to occupational health and arranging risk assessments where necessary
•Coordinating planned leaves such as maternity, paternity and parental leave
•Attending formal meetings to provide HR Advice and to take minutes as well as leading on exit interviews
•Providing input into changes to HR policies through knowledge of employment legislation
•Working alongside the HR Manager on organisational change projects including restructures, TUPE and redundancies
•Liaising with lawyers for advice and guidance as necessary
•Liaising with Trade Union colleagues
•Leading on the coordination of vacancies within your regions and updating the HR Recruitment module to advertise and track applications as necessary
•Ensuring that candidates are selected through the most effective and efficient selection processes; including attending interviews as required and advising managers on the recruitment panels
•Making offers, following up on references and contracts of employment for new staff
•Facilitate all block recruitment and assessment centres to the required deadlines throughout the year
•Advising employees on their benefits
•Ensuring all appraisals are received in line with the yearly deadline
•Carrying out appraisal appeals
•Project managing reviews of salary and benefits as required
•Ensuring employees are rewarded for performance through the salary increment process
•To input starters, leavers, changes information on to the human resources database and ensure that personnel files are created and updated; ensuring the data protection policy is followed at all times.

Person Specification;

•CIPD Associate level, or working towards
•Excellent working knowledge of employment law with the ability to apply it practically to workplace solutions
•Excellent understanding of HR best practice and ability to apply this to employee relations cases
•A thorough understanding of the recruitment cycle and current trends.
•A good understanding of best practice trends in HR management.
•Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and work to deadlines in a methodical and accurate fashion.
•An understanding of and commitment to Diversity & Equality as it applies to a supportive service and in the workplace.
•A keen eye for detail combined with a clear overview of objectives and priorities.
•Using a range of computer software applications, including a computerised personnel information system, and maximising the use of IT to improve working practices and systems.
