Our client is a national charity that supports homeless people and they have an exciting opportunity for a Housing Coach to join their team in their Croydon service which provides innovative education, employment, housing and well-being services which address individual needs and help homeless people to transform their lives.

As a Housing Coach, you will be involved in being the initial point of contact for members explaining the service and conducting the initial and ongoing assessments of member's housing needs, options and opportunities. The key focus of your role will be to provide support to members in identifying suitable, affordable and reliable sources of accommodation coupled with assistance for members to help sustain their tenancies.

You will be the point of contact for complex and protracted housing advice queries as well as leading on the quality assurance of housing advice provided by staff within the relevant Skylight Centre. The role will also have a strong focus on homelessness prevention through negotiation and liaison with family members, landlords, housing provider, housing benefit departments, and the DWP.

Key knowledge / attributes will include

  • A good knowledge of homelessness and the causes of homelessness
  • A knowledge social housing
  • The ability to build relationships with key stake holders including prospective landlords who will accept tenants on benefits
  • A strong knowledge of the benefits system
  • Previous experience of delivering advice and guidance

This role is initially offered on a fixed term contract until 31 March 2019 with the potential of extending for a further 12 months.
