TPP Health & Social Care are working with a long-established maritime charity, which through grant making, project work and advisory services, promotes the welfare of seafarers and their dependants, with a focus on health and medical issues.

The charity’s recent health development work stems in part from research published by the (now) Maritime Charities Group (MCG) in 2007 showing the physical and emotional hazards faced by working seafarers and the importance of a wide range of associated health and healthcare issues. This research is currently being updated for publication later in 2017.

This is a permanent, full time post (35 hours per week). Reporting to the Secretary, you will be commissioning health projects, whilst maintaining the development and co-ordination of programmes that promote seafarers’ health and well-being. You will also be assessing and approving individual welfare grants in accordance with Trustee policies, co-ordinating IIP issues, and liaising closely with the Secretary, Hon Treasurer and Chair of Trustees on budgeting and resource planning.

You will be highly motivated with an understanding of the difficulties faced by different communities in maintaining good health and their barriers to accessing healthcare. It is essential to have an understanding of the NHS and other care providers and you will use your knowledge to build and maintain key relationships and develop health initiatives.

In addition, an understanding of seafarers, men’s health, the maritime sector and / or health charities would be ideal.

Knowledge of Investors in People (which the charity are proud to have recently been awarded) or similar and experience of handling individual welfare grant applications would also be an advantage.

Working alongside a committed Trustee board and dedicated staff, you will bring drive and a passion for the cause to enhance the charity’s impact and the support it can provide.
